'Banky W embraces Christ altered his career' – Spyro

Spyro, the Afrobeats hitmaker, has exposed what R&B star-turned-preacher Banky W
 told him about the impact of publicly embracing his faith in Jesus Christ. In a recent interview with Echo Room, Spyro shared that Banky W described the challenges he faced in the Nigerian music industry after openly declaring his faith in Christ.

He recounted that Banky W associated the setbacks he encountered in the music scene with his choice to openly acknowledge his faith, highlighting that they began after he proclaimed Christ.

Speaking about his experiences, Spyro stated that identifying as a “Jesus boy” has exposed him to bias, resulting in a lack of support and goodwill from others.

“Right now, my biggest struggle in the music scene is dealing with discrimination,” Spyro disclosed. “Embracing the ‘Jesus boy’ brand has brought me heavy criticism.”

“Honestly, how many media giants genuinely support or promote my music when I release tracks? They showcase other artists, but aside from the blogs I pay, who really posts about me?”

“I often find myself asking why—especially when less accomplished artists receive more support. The answer is obvious: the moment you openly profess Christ, you’re thrust into a conflict.”
