At the Wednesday resumption of his case, following his February 20th arraignment, the prosecution argued that separate trials for Portable and his workers would be a waste of judicial time.
Senior State Counsel, Timileyin Oredein, informed the court that Portable's case was linked to a related case, necessitating a merger prior to the commencement of the trial.
The court was reminded by Oredein that Portable and nine of his workers faced similar charges in a prior arraignment on February 6th.
He asserted that trying the defendants separately would result in a waste of time.
Oredein requested the court to set an early date for the merging and substitution of the charges.
Five charges were filed against Portable and his workers, including conspiracy, assault, armed obstruction, and breach of the peace.
Additionally, they faced charges for allegedly assaulting three officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
