Nicknamed the “Igwe of Fuji,” Remi Aluko is a renowned icon in Nigerian Fuji music. He embarked on his musical path at just 15, swiftly gaining popularity among Yoruba music fans. His first album, Celebration, launched in 1995, marked the start of a thriving career with a string of successful albums that have won him a vast and dedicated following.
Noted for his iconic rhythms and high-energy shows, Aluko encountered visual impairments in 2012. In spite of these hardships, he pushed forward in his music career, transparently sharing his experience with glaucoma, a condition that poses a risk of partial or full blindness.
Not long ago, while in Canada, Aluko received a successful treatment that restored his vision completely. A video shared online captures him happily entering an apartment, where friends enthusiastically cheer his regained eyesight.
