Pulse: Basketmouth discloses his intention on music, filmmaking

Bright Okpocha, a celebrated Nigerian stand-up Comedian popularly known as Basketmouth, has disclosed his intention to concentrate entirely on music and filmmaking This year.

Basketmouth admitted that his journey into comedy happened by chance, as his primary focus had been on pursuing a career in music. He pivoted to comedy after his musical dreams did not pan out.

Speaking recently with Pulse, he expressed, “I’m planning to take music more seriously next year. I want to create EPs to collaborate with a few artists I admire.”

“My goal is to commit entirely to music and movies. To be frank, films have always been my main passion, surpassing comedy. That’s always been the reality—I just haven’t created a movie yet.”

“My journey began with music, but I soon discovered it wasn’t working out. I’ve been naturally funny since childhood, but music seemed like a creative avenue to explore. I was into rap, but when it didn’t turn out as I hoped, I ventured into comedy. It was a random turn of events, and I realized, ‘This is successful this must be my calling.’”
