After relocating to Sweden, the ‘Soundtrack’ crooner revealed that he became a “house husband” to take care of his child. However, their marriage fell apart during the COVID-19 lockdown when he couldn’t return from Nigeria.
May D, in a conversation on The Honest Bunch podcast, explained his preference for focusing on family matters, pointing out that his show profits significantly surpassed his wife’s work-related earnings.
“I visited Sweden for a gig and chose to make it my home because my girlfriend was Swedish,” he shared. “I became a stay-at-home dad. What was I supposed to do? Get a day job? My wife was employed, but I earned five times her monthly income from my performances. I was happy staying at home with my child because she couldn’t balance her job and taking care of the baby alone.”
May D, speaking about the end of their marriage, revealed, “We got divorced during the COVID-19 period as I was stuck in Nigeria. That’s when she chose to end things. Their perspective [Swedes] is unlike ours.”
